Tony here. I like to read non-fiction personal development books. Every single day I consume content that helps me be a better person, coach, business owner, husband, dad, or whatever new or improved identity I’m trying to create.
I have shelves and shelves of books I’ve read, some multiple times, and I have others that I’ve never finished – bought when I was inspired but never got around to reading.
A book, like most information, is rewarding to consume. You learn knew things, have epiphanies, get inspired, and feel like you’re making progress towards your goals.

But here we are on day 5, trying to solve one big problem – how do we take the information we learn and actually apply it to our own unique lives so we can experience transformation?
You Have to Do More Than Just Consume Information
This was the problem I had for years. I was a consumer of information. But I didn’t effectively apply what I learned.
I kept reading though because it felt like I was doing something. It felt like I was making progress towards my goals. But in reality, I made very little progress over those years.
This lead me to a big realization …
Knowledge alone is valuable. But knowledge applied is transformational.
I was spending too much time consuming a buffet of information – weeding through filler content in order to find a little valuable gold nugget here or there.
What I should have done was zero in on an idea that resonated with me and then go deeper and deeper on it until the knowledge was applied and became a part of me.
It was the application of the right knowledge that was standing between me and my goals.
The 4 Asset Framework for Change
There are 4 assets you need in order to to succeed at your ideal body journey (or any goal for that matter). Each of these 4 assets are present to varying degrees in any goal you pursue, and the more you can turn up the “intensity” in each area, the more successful you will be.
The 4 assets are …
1️⃣ Knowledge – The strategies and tactics you need to know in order to take action and feel confident in what you’re doing. This knowledge can be accumulated from something like a random email or article you read, all the way to a book, or better yet – a program.
2️⃣ Coaching – The ability of someone to take that information and integrate it into their identity and unique life. This ranges from self-coaching, to group coaching – all the way to 1-on-1 coaching/mentoring.
3️⃣ Accountability – The feeling or desire to take action and progressively move closer to your goal. Some people are able to hold themselves accountable while others will do much better being held accountable to another person or even a group of people.
4️⃣ Community – The need to be surrounded by people who share the same struggles and goals as you. The communities you’re part of, such as a group of people who are intensely focused on a similar goal, will have a huge influence on your ability to immerse yourself into a new philosophy and identity, and will greatly impact your success.
