Limiting beliefs are what stand between you and who you want to be.
Your outcomes are a side effect of your behaviors, and your behaviors are a side effect of your beliefs.
These beliefs are like your life’s operating system. Some beliefs are empowering and help you grow, while others are limiting and keep you stuck and frustrated.
These limiting beliefs have been formed over a lifetime of experiences and mental programming.
✅ A critical comment about your appearance in the past can create the limiting belief that your worth is tied to your body.
✅ Someone telling you that you’re not very athletic as a kid can create the limiting belief that you aren’t capable of being strong, fast, or powerful.
✅ Diet and beauty industry marketing can create the limiting belief that you have something you need to be insecure about that needs fixing.
The list goes on and on. We literally have hundreds of these limiting beliefs that influence every part of our life. These beliefs drive our behaviors, which create our outcomes and life experience.
So if you want to change your life, you must identify and overcome these limiting beliefs. You have to become aware of them and challenge them until they are replaced with more empowering beliefs.
Yet most of us never question our beliefs. Instead, we take a surface level approach to transformation.
We try to inject new behaviors into a broken operating system. When this happens, your actions are not in alignment with your beliefs, and self-sabotage is the outcome.
So despite your best of intentions, the behaviors don’t stick, and your limiting beliefs keep you right where you are.
Ask yourself 2 questions:
1️⃣ Who do you want to be?
2️⃣ Why can’t you be, or why are you having a hard time being that person?
The answers you have for that second question will help you uncover many of your limiting beliefs. These could also take the shape of “reasons” or “excuses”.
Whatever the case, to change who you are, you must change who you are. This identity shift is what naturally changes what you do, which leads to a different life experience.
